Resumen
Despite its cultural and ethnogastronomic value, yonque has not yet been formally integrated into Peru's export portfolio due to a lack of official recognition, production standardization, and regulatory classification. Therefore, this study seeks to design an export plan for yonque to the US market, considering the requirements and challenges for its formal entry. This qualitative and descriptive study developed a documentary review of trade regulations, tariff and non-tariff barriers, and international logistics practices. Based on successful cases such as pisco and artisanal rum, the proposed plan recommends the use of Peruvian tariff code 2208.40 as a reference category and details the possible classification under one of four HTSUS codes, depending on the volume of the container and the unit value. It also includes compliance with FDA and TTB regulations, along with a logistics strategy based on the 4Es: packaging, labeling, wrapping, and bottling. The plan further proposes entry into the international market through specialized trade fairs and institutional positioning under the Marca Perú brand. © LEIRD 2025.All rights reserved.
