Resumen
In this project, we have developed the design of an artificial vision algorithm to determine the service life of brake pads in private vehicles. The main objective is to assess the durability of brake pads in three conditions: new, halfway used, and worn out. This application is of practical importance and even contributes to road safety. For the simulation, we used the following programs: OpenCV, which provides a working environment for real-time computer vision applications. It can be used with programming languages such as C, C++, and Python. Additionally, two test trials were conducted on the brake pads. From this, it can be concluded that the height of the brake pad indicates its durability. The greater the height of the pad, the longer its service life. In conclusion, to ensure that the brake pad has the correct durability and to prevent accidents or economic losses due to vehicle maintenance, the pad's height should fall within the range of 14mm to 22mm.
