Design of an Agricultural Robotic Platform for Cucurbit Crop Cultivation

Paredes R.; Policarpo C.; Nieves A.; Klussmann H. · 2025 8th International Conference on Robotics, Control and Automation Engineering, RCAE 2025 (2025) · DOI: 10.1109/rcae66389.2025.11355292

Resumen

The development of agricultural robotic platforms requires structures that are robust, lightweight, and adaptable to uneven terrain. This work presents the structural design of an autonomous mobile platform for the monitoring and treatment of cucurbit crops in open fields, with emphasis on Cucurbita Maxima. The structure, built using 6061-T6 aluminum profiles, has been designed to support a load of up to 75 kg in its base configuration (1 m wide), prioritizing weight reduction and ease of assembly. A CAD model was developed using Autodesk Inventor, complemented by static and dynamic simulations. Additionally, a modular extension of up to 5 m is proposed, currently undergoing structural and dynamic simulation, with an estimated load of 50 kg. Compared to similar agricultural platforms reported in the literature, this platform stands out for its low weight, portability, and adaptability. The system aims to be an accessible, robust, and replicable solution for agricultural environments, with initial validation to be performed through structural and mobility tests in a controlled environment.
