Resumen
This study focuses on improving the plant layout at "Sarita Carpentry" using the hexagon method and simulating it with ProModel to increase productivity. Initially, significant problems were identified such as high rates of defective parts and inefficient machine layout. ProModel allowed us to represent the door production process that we wish to analyze. Through its use, simulations were carried out where variables such as locations, entities, arrivals, resources and processing were considered. Two scenarios were modeled: one with a new layout of machines and another that incorporated the addition of operators and a finished products warehouse. This optimization significantly improved the workflow and efficiency of the machines, resulting in an impressive 92% increase in productivity in the second simulated scenario. Furthermore, the simulation made it possible to accurately identify finished and defective products, demonstrating a considerable improvement in the distribution of carpentry and in the production of doors compared to the previous situation.
