Resumen
This study aims to analyze the effect of a rear spoiler on aerodynamic efficiency and fuel consumption in a low-end sedan, using the Volkswagen Vento as a case study. The spoiler design was based on the NACA 2412 airfoil profile, optimizing its geometry and angle of attack to improve airflow and reduce aerodynamic drag. The methodology was based on computational simulations using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), performed with SolidWorks software. The simulations were conducted at an average speed of 65 km/h, in accordance with the speed limits established by Peruvian traffic regulations. The results show a reduction in the aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cx) from 0.40 to 0.36, along with a decrease in the required power from 2953.325 W to 2657.992 W. This improvement was reflected in reduced fuel consumption, from 10.89 to 9.79 L/100 km, representing an approximate savings of 10%.
