Resumen
This research aimed to design and evaluate a low-cost ergonomic chair for public transport drivers, manufactured with good quality and durable materials. Given the need to prevent musculoskeletal injuries suffered by drivers, a viable solution was proposed. It was decided to use Solid works software and finite element analysis to design the ergonomic chair considering key factors such as ergonomic recommendations to maintain proper posture. Economical and good quality materials such as cassata foam, genuine leather, polyester mesh and steel tube were evaluated focusing on strength, durability and comfort. As part of the design process, compression force and stress calculations and safety factors were performed to ensure the structural support capacity of the chair design. The results obtained indicate that the ergonomic chair can withstand a maximum estimated effort of 180.5 megapascals, allowing it to withstand a maximum load of 90kg without any type of deformation. This ergonomic design contributes to improving the quality and durability of the product, positioning itself in a competitive local market.
