Design of a drinking water system using Epanet software for the community of Cupiche in the District of Ricardo Palma

José Chávez Ortega J.; Andrés Segovia Montjoy J.; Sánchez García A. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2025) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2025.1.1.1285

Resumen

The current drinking water system in Cupiche is inefficient and lacks adequate maintenance, which generates a deficient and scarce service, affecting the quality of life and health of the residents. Faced with this critical need, the research proposes a new system based on the implementation of an optimized network and efficient management to improve the situation. The methodology adopted is a mixed approach, combining qualitative and quantitative tools. The Epanet software was key in this research, as it allowed modeling and simulation of the water distribution network, analyzing critical variables such as flow rate, pressure at the nodes and estimated demand to project the functionality of the system. The simulation results suggest a significant improvement in the regulation percentage of 25% and a 2-hour backup schedule. The implementation of the new system is expected to generate substantial benefits for the community, such as guaranteeing an efficient, sustainable solution adapted to the needs of the population.
