Design and implementation of the 5S Methodology to reduce costs in a sugar distributor MYPE

León K.B.R.; Nuñez C.M.R.; Burga J.L.S. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2024) · DOI: 10.18687/leird2024.1.1.758

Resumen

This research was carried out with the objective of implementing the 5s methodology in a sugar distributor MYPE. The sugar company faced serious organizational problems in the warehouse area, which made it difficult to locate supplies and caused significant delays in the preparation of orders. In addition, the disorganization led to a considerable loss of time in the search for inputs, thus affecting the efficiency of both the management of inputs and the services offered. To address this problem, several alternative solutions were proposed. After evaluating them under realistic constraints, the 5S methodology was selected. The implementation of this methodology was simulated, obtaining positive results such as a total profit of $9,179.91, an IRR of 36%, an NPV of $5,878.15 and a B/C of 3.41.
