Resumen

The objective of this research was to determine to what extent the implementation of a warehouse and inventory management design reduces the costs of the logistics area in a bookstore - Trujillo Perú 2023. To achieve the improvement, initially the diagnosis was carried out, finding that the bookstore lacked of efficient control of the products that enter the warehouse and adequate distribution, generating losses due to units that become obsolete or expired. An inventory accuracy of 47.49%, an inventory age of 8.90%, inventory rotation with a rate of 3 times and 14 days of permanence were obtained. The costs were: merchandise in poor condition for S/ 13,284.09; storage for S/ 31,234.09 and the cost per stored unit of S/ 1.24. After the application of tools such as ABC and methodologies such as 5S in the bookstore warehouse, the following were achieved: inventory accuracy of 99.07%, inventory aging of 1.27%, inventory rotation of 4 times and permanence of 8 days. Costs were reduced: merchandise in poor condition to S/ 2,765.72; storage costs to S/ 20,715.72 and cost for each stored unit at S/ 0.90. © CISCI - Simposium Iberoamericano en Educacion, Cibernetica e Informatica 2024.
