Data analytics capabilities as mediators between intellectual alignment and firm performance

Malca Terrones A.E. · Revista de Ciencias Sociales (2026) · DOI: 10.31876/rcs.v32i.45766

Resumen

Data analytics has become a strategic resource for organizations seeking to improve their competitiveness and performance in dynamic environments. However, investments in analytics do not always translate into better results, especially in emerging economies. This study analyzes how intellectual alignment influences data analytics management capabilities, data analytics technology capabilities, and data analytics talent capabilities, as well as the effect of these capabilities on business performance, both directly and through mediating effects, in companies operating in Peru. A quantitative and explanatory approach was adopted, using survey data from 222 companies and partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results show that intellectual alignment positively influences all three analytical capabilities. Furthermore, data analytics technology capabilities have a significant direct effect on business performance, while management capabilities and talent capabilities do not show robust direct effects. Additionally, the study concludes that management capabilities and technological capabilities partially mediate this relationship.
