Resumen
This article makes a comparative analysis of customs procedures in Ecuador and Peru, based on the Logistics Performance Index published by the World Bank. Aspects such as the efficiency of customs clearance, traceability and tracking of goods, as well as the infrastructure and quality of logistics services are examined. The methodology follows a documentary, exploratory-descriptive and comparative approach as a basis for analyzing, interpreting and contrasting the logistics and customs performance of Ecuador and Peru. The main sources of information are represented by data from the World Bank's 2018 Logistics Performance Index, official trade and logistics reports issued by SENAE and SUNAT and specialized scientific articles on the subject. From the results of the 2018 Logistics Performance Index, accompanied by previous studies, it is identified that Ecuador maintains a relative advantage over Peru in several dimensions of the index, although both countries face common challenges related to the modernization and digitalization of their customs processes. The study concludes that the existing gaps reflect not only differences in institutional capacity, but also in the implementation of sustainable and efficient logistics policies.
