Resumen

Objective To analyze maternal wellbeing within the family system from a clinical nursing care perspective, identifying key caregiving needs and implications for nursing practice in a Peruvian collective health context. Methods A qualitative case study design was conducted using a collective health approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and clinical observations involving Peruvian mothers and their family environments. Analysis focused on identifying nursing-relevant care needs related to emotional support, family relationships, and maternal coping, guided by principles of family-centered nursing care. Results The findings revealed that maternal wellbeing is strongly influenced by family dynamics, caregiving roles, emotional support, and sociocultural expectations. Key nursing care needs included emotional containment, strengthening of family support networks, guidance in maternal role adaptation, and promotion of self-care. Nurses emerged as central agents in coordinating care, fostering therapeutic relationships, and integrating family members into the care process. Conclusions This study highlights the relevance of integrated clinical nursing care approaches that address maternal wellbeing within the family system. The findings support the need for nursing interventions that combine clinical, relational, and sociocultural dimensions of care, particularly in primary and community health settings. These results contribute to nursing knowledge by reinforcing the role of nurses in delivering holistic, family-centered care for maternal wellbeing in collective health contexts.
