Resumen
The objective is to analyse corruption risk management based on the understanding of corruption and public spending in the municipalities of Peru. It was a review-type study, supported by narrative as a study method, in which the topics of the investigation were previously established, being these: 1) corruption: an approach to its conceptualisation; 2) a look at the typology of corruption; 3) corruption risk management; 4) corruption of mayors and its impact on public spending, a binding relationship, reason for which a selective sampling method was used, choosing 37 documents associated with the categories. From the findings it can be concluded that understanding the reality of a phenomenon that is part of the daily life of Peruvian politics, must begin by understanding what are the epistemological postulates that surround it, hence, to appropriate a holistic understanding of corruption, it is essential to debate, reflect and internalise what is meant by it.
