The 10.4 % do not intend to use a method in the future, those methods with the highest preference for the future were injectables 28.4 %, pills 16.1 % and implants 14 %. Intramural and extramural orientation were associated with current and future use of contraceptive methods. There are differences in the type of contraceptive method used in each setting where the woman receives counseling. Conclusions: Mainly women prefer modern contraceptive methods and in low proportion those of long duration. In addition, extramural counseling had a significant difference in the current and future use of contraceptive methods with respect to the intramural setting.
