Resumen
Congenital malformations in animals affect production due to their impact on neonatal survival, animal welfare, and productive efficiency. A pathological case is described in a newborn pig from a family farm in the district of Baños del Inca, Cajamarca (Peru). The specimen was examined at the Veterinary Pathology Laboratory of the National University of Cajamarca, where a morphological and radiographic evaluation was performed. Lateral and dorsoventral radiographs showed severe bilateral mandibular hypoplasia, with dorsal displacement of the symphysis and symmetrical shortening of both mandibular branches. The findings were consistent with congenital glossomandibular anomaly with severe mandibular hypoplasia, contributing to the knowledge of craniofacial malformations in domestic species and emphasizing the importance of morphological and radiographic diagnosis in neonates. The objective of this study was to describe a pathological case in a pig.
