Resumen
This systematic review comparatively analyzed hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) implementation strategies oriented toward optimizing energy efficiency and operational performance in high-density data centers. The PICOC method was employed to structure the systematic search in recognized academic databases (Scopus, IEEE, ScienceDirect) corresponding to the period 2020-2024. From a total of 960 initial records identified, 12 studies were selected for qualitative analysis and 25 for quantitative analysis through rigorous eligibility criteria applied during a structured selection process. The findings revealed five main HCI implementation approaches, evidencing significant reductions in energy consumption, optimal PUE values between 1.05-1.15 in advanced implementations, as well as decreases in carbon footprint. Typical return on investment ranged between 18-36 months, while savings during five-year cycles showed 21-38% advantages in TCO. Consequently, HCI constituted a technically viable solution for energy optimization in data centers, where effectiveness fundamentally depended on synergistic combinations between emerging technologies rather than isolated solutions. © LEIRD 2025.All rights reserved.
