Resumen
The general objective of this research was to determine the relationship between commercial activities and urban life in the district of Catacaos, Piura. This was a basic, descriptive, correlational, and non-experimental study. The population-based component was conducted with 604 people within the commercial sector of the Catacaos district, and the sample consisted of 235 people from the same sector. Data collection was carried out using two questionnaires, each corresponding to each variable. The variables considered were: Commercial Activity and Urban Life. The results revealed a very high positive correlation (Spearman’s Rho = 0.996) and a significant relationship (P = 0.000<0.01) between commercial activity and urban life, confirming the hypothesis. Furthermore, each dimension of commercial activity also showed significant correlations with urban life (Spearman’s Rho = 0.993), highlighting how deficiencies in infrastructure, social security coverage, and service quality are directly related to urban life. The primary conclusion was that commercial activity had a significant relationship with urban life in the Catacaos district, Piura. That is, the more structured commercial activity is, the greater the development of urban life, making it more orderly, accessible, and dynamic. Greater commercial activity contributes to urban life in the Catacaos district, Peru. © (2025), (Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico). All rights reserved.
