Resumen

The pandemic constituted a period with profound implications for the sociopolitical reality of Peru, as it intensified various structural problems, including the educational and technological crisis resulting from the transition to virtuality. In this context, the present study aims to describe and explain the cognitive mechanisms-metaphors, metonymies, and image schemas identified in opinion columns on the educational-technological crisis published in the digital newspaper Pasco Libre. Methodologically, the analysis is developed from the postulates of cognitive semantics and is complemented by a critical discourse analysis (CDA) approach, which allows for the examination of the ideological dimension of discursive representations. The findings reveal that cognitive mechanisms configure logics oriented toward questioning the Peruvian sociopolitical structure regarding education in a (post-)pandemic context. In conclusion, it is argued that opinion columns employ discursive resources that not only cognitively organize reality, but also contribute to reinforcing, disputing, or delegitimizing certain relations and positions of power.
