Resumen
The aim of this study was to describe the epidemiological, clinical, surgical, and histopathological characteristics, and to evaluate disease-free survival and recurrence. A retrospective observational cohort study was conducted on 45 patients under 15 years of age with a histopathologically confirmed diagnosis of Wilms tumor, who were treated between 2000 and 2020. Medical, surgical, and pathology records were reviewed. Males predominated (53.3%), the mean age was 3.6 years, and Stage II was the most common (40.0%). Additionally, 53.3% received neoadjuvant chemotherapy and 46.7% underwent primary surgery. Open radical nephrectomy was performed in 95.6% of cases, margins were negative in 84.4%, and mixed histology was the most common (53.3%). Nine patients experienced recurrence, six died, and five discontinued treatment. Disease-free survival was 82.3% at two years.
