Resumen
Introduction. This article synthesizes the Ministry of Health's clinical practice guideline (CPG) for the diagnosis and staging of breast cancer. Objective. To provide evidence-based clinical recommendations for the diagnosis and staging of breast cancer. Methods. A Guideline Elaboration Group (GEG) was formed, consisting of specialists in oncology, breast surgery, radiology, pathology, and methodology. The group formulated clinical questions to guide the process. Systematic searches for high-quality evidence were conducted, starting with systematic reviews and, when these were unavailable, primary studies, across at least three different databases during the year 2024. The evidence was selected to address each of the clinical questions. The certainty of the evidence was assessed using the GRADE methodology. Through this process, periodic meetings were held where the GEG reviewed the evidence and formulated the corresponding recommendations, points of good clinical practice, and flowcharts. The CPG was subsequently approved by Directorial Resolution No. 008-2024-CETS/INS. Results. The CPG addressed seven clinical questions related to the diagnosis and staging of breast cancer. As a result, seven conditional recommendations, thirteen points of good clinical practice, and four flowcharts were developed. Conclusion. Evidence-based recommendations were formulated for the diagnosis and staging of breast cancer. © (2025), (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Facultad de Medicina). All Rights Reserved.
