Resumen
The textile industry generates a large amount of synthetic plastic waste, representing an increasingly relevant environmental challenge. This systematic literature review explored circular economy strategies applied between 2020 and 2025 to reincorporate these wastes into the textile supply chain. The review, based on the PICOC model and databases such as Scopus and Web of Science, selected 37 studies aligned with specific criteria. The analysis was organized into five axes: type of waste, reintegration technologies, comparison with linear models, supply chain efficiency, and integration mechanisms. Results reveal a transition towards circular models employing technologies such as mechanical and chemical recycling, blockchain, digital traceability, and design for disassembly. These practices allow materials such as polyester, nylon, and acrylics to be reincorporated into production processes, reducing dependence on virgin polymers and improving operational efficiency. Despite the advances, technical, economic, and regulatory challenges remain that hinder broader adoption. The circular approach emerges as an effective way to transform the textile sector, provided it is accompanied by technological innovation, adequate regulatory frameworks, and collaboration among the different actors in the chain. © LEIRD 2025.All rights reserved.
