Resumen
The article proposes an approach to the narrative of Ciro Alegria in his novel The world is wide and alien (1941), which is part of the Peruvian literary canon, mainly due to the characteristic tensions of the indigenous novel, such as revealing the social and cultural problems that existed in Peru. The objective is to analyze under the chronotope term of Mijael Bakhtin, the community of Rumi in Alegria s novel, since it represents a collective space where said cultural tensions recreate space-Time, which determines its relationship with "reality" and the ideological position of the subjects. For this, the notion of symbol and sign of Julia Kristeva will also be used, because the mythical discourse symbolizes the tradition and spirit of indigenous man.
