Díaz F.R.V.; Figueroa J.M.; Ignacio C.V.D.; Navarro E.L. · International Journal of Operations and Quantitative Management (2024) · DOI: 10.46970/2024.30.4.05

Resumen

This study aims to provide actionable recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders in the Apurímac region to enhance tourism support services, fostering an inclusive environment that promotes the growth of social tourism and improves accessibility for all potential visitors. The study examined the limitations faced by tourism support services in promoting social tourism in Apurímac, Peru, in 2023. Qualitative research methods were employed, including documentary review, photographs, the researcher's experience, and direct observation. The findings revealed the following key issues: 1. Poor urban planning up until the early 21st century has led to inadequate spatial distribution. 2. Public infrastructure remains a major barrier, with ongoing projects related to ornamentation and basic sanitation. 3. Private housing development lacks technical designs and the specific requirements needed for the tourism sector. 4. Local transport, which is aimed at tourism resources, operates without adequate coordination with travel agencies and lacks essential complementary services. 5. The existing infrastructure is primarily geared towards receptive tourism, posing challenges for adaptation to social tourism. 6. Individuals with moderate to severe disabilities face significant barriers to obtaining a satisfactory tourist experience. These limitations impede the development of social tourism in the region, necessitating a comprehensive reorientation of tourism infrastructure and related services to foster inclusivity and accessibility.
