Resumen
Peru is a country with deep social and economic setbacks. Paradoxically, national climate policies maintain this pattern: indigenous peoples, one of the poorest sectors of the country, have to bear the high costs of avoiding deforestation in their territories. On the contrary, Peru does not have an instrument that internalizes emissions of greenhouse gases from cities, which have increased by 50% in the last 20 years due to economic growth. This article presents a carbon price proposal that seeks to overcome these setbacks and provide a comprehensive response to the challenges of climate change in this country, helping to reduce the economic and social gaps that have been exacerbated by the serious impact of Covid-19. © The Editors and Contributors severally 2021.
