Resumen
With the present investigation it was possible to quantify the carbon footprint generated by the main materials used in the construction of educational institutions in the northern highlands of Peru; The methodology used was based on three stages: selection of the sample according to the construction model, identification and quantification of the most representative materials of the construction process, and quantification of CO2eq emissions for each analyzed project, obtaining a carbon footprint for the I.E Amanchaloc 710.09 kgCO2eq/m 2 with an em issions representation of 21%; for I.E El Mote, a carbon footprint of 662.69 kgCO2eq/m 2 was obtained, with an emissions representation of 20%; at I.E El Prado, a carbon footprint of 652.96 kgCO2eq/m 2 was obtained, with an emissions representation of 20%; In the I.E Gallito Ciego a carbon footprint of 644.00 kgCO2eq/m 2 was quantified, with an emissions representation of 19% and in the I.E Santa Ana a carbon footprint of 661.80 kgCO2eq/m 2 was quantified, with a representation of emissions of 20%; The average carbon footprint of the entire study sample was 666.31 kgCO2eq/m 2 of built area. The materials that have had the greatest impact on the carbon footprint are: cement with an average of 56%, steel with an average of 20%, galvanized steel with an average of 6% and PVC pipe with an average of 8%.
