Cajamarca Go: A mobile application with an intelligent assistant for the promotion of sustainable tourism

Rodríguez C.; Rojas J.; Llanos J.; Mendoza C.; Bazán L. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2026) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2026.1.1.1210

Resumen

This research aimed to analyze the differences in the promotion of sustainable tourism in the Cajamarca region before and after the use of the mobile application Cajamarca Go. The solution was developed using the Scrum agile methodology, integrating features such as geolocation of tourist attractions, sustainable routes, 3D modeling, and educational content on responsible practices. Additionally, an intelligent conversational assistant was incorporated, implemented through the n8n automation platform, which enabled real-time responses to user inquiries about destinations, sustainability practices, and local services, enhancing the personalized user experience. The study was applied in nature, with a quantitative approach and a preexperimental design based on pre-test and post-test. The population consisted of tourists and local service providers, with a sample of 103 participants selected through convenience sampling. The main data collection technique was a survey, supported by an instrument validated by experts, allowing the measurement of changes associated with the use of the application. The results showed that Cajamarca Go is associated with improvements in users' awareness of sustainability, reflected in significant increases in environmental awareness (from 3.86 to 4.78) and in the perception of digital tool usage (from 4.02 to 4.85), by providing accessible, contextualized, and reliable information, along with interactive support from the conversational assistant. In conclusion, the application is positioned as an innovative tool with the potential to strengthen the sustainable tourism experience in Cajamarca, serving as a replicable model for other regions of the country.
