Resumen
An observer based on Modulation Functions is developed for a class of Hyperbolic PDEs that represents Fluid Transport systems using only boundary measurements. The Modulation Function(MF) approach is extended for its use with this class of PDE solving the corresponding stabilization of the auxiliary system. Discontinuities on model parameters and faults are also discussed and addressed, introducing a new type of function basis for the method that allows a better estimation, representing a new approach for the state estimation with the Modulating Function method. The performance of the method is illustrated with the model of a real water transport plant showing an adequate estimation even with discontinuous parameters and overcoming issues presented with continuous basis functions.
