Resumen
Introduction: Motivation is one of the factors that determines students' reading activity, however, it has weakened in recent years. This situation led to a Project work with the objective of determining if the booktrailer application increases the reading motivation of a group of fourth-grade high school students from a private educational institution in Piura (Peru). Methodology: The research was developed under a quantitative approach, applied modality, pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test in a single group. Reading motivation was measured through a questionnaire in a sample of 18 students. Results: It was found that, before the experimental intervention, the level of reading motivation was low in the majority of students (69.3%) (Mean = 35.22); while at the end of the investigation it was high (59.2%) (Mean = 50.67). Discussions: The results determined that the students have a low level of reading motivation, confirming a problem already identified in other previous studies. In addition, the effectiveness of the booktrailer as a reading motivation strategy was confirmed, in the perspective that other authors have based it on. Conclusions: It was concluded that the booktrailer application significantly increased the reading motivation of the students who participated in the research.
