Resumen
The aim of this study was to describe the pelvic girdle, pelvimetry and its relationship with biometry in alpacas. For the bone description, four pelvic pieces of female alpaca were used. In addition, 72 females destined for slaughter (subdivided into three age groups of 4, 5 and 6 years) were used to take internal pelvimetric measurements (sacralpubic diameter, upper bis-iliac diameter, lower bis-iliac diameter and medial bis-iliac diameter) and external pelvic distances (interiliac distance, inter ischial distance and iliac-ischial distance), In addition, three biometric measurements were taken (height at the withers, body length and abdominal diameter). The bone description of the pelvis demonstrates the presence of the inter-ischial bone, the pelvic floor is slightly concave, which increases the pelvic area. Internal pelvimetry shows the oval shape of the pelvic circumference, being taller than wide, dolichopelvic type. Externally, the pelvis has a conical shape located cranially caudally. The highest correlation was determined between the cavity and the pelvic area, with a coefficient of determination of 82.92%. © Los autores.
