Resumen
This bibliometric study evaluated the scientific output on antiseptics in mouthwashes and their role in COVID-19 prevention or treatment, highlighting trends, key authors, and influential research patterns. A comprehensive search was conducted on the Scopus database for articles from January 2020 to June 2023.Results: 37 articles were identified annually with a cumulative 602 citations. Prominent keywords included “humans” (32 instances), “COVID-19” (23), “coronavirus disease” (21), “SARS-CoV-2” (21), “controlled clinical trials” (21), and “mouthwashes” (19). The analysis underscores a consistent rise in research connecting mouthwashes and COVID-19. While significant progress has been made, the enduring virus threat necessitates ongoing research, especially adapting to novel strains, to safeguard global health. © (2024), (University of Dicle).
