Resumen
The primary objective of this research was to evaluate the influence of cassava starch as an organic stabilizing agent on the axial compressive and flexural strength of compacted adobe blocks. Soil classification tests identified a granulometrically suitable material for the production of the composite, to which cassava starch was incorporated in proportions of 6%, 8%, and 10% by weight. The specimens were compacted using a BRICK BLOCK machine and tested according to relevant standards. The results showed a significant improvement in compressive strength, with values of 20.02 kg/cm2, 32.62 kg/cm2, and 37.37 kg/cm2 for the 6%, 8%, and 10% dosages, respectively, exceeding minimum requirements established by E.080 and UNE 41410 standards. Flexural strength also improved at the 10% dosage, reaching 5.10 kg/cm2. These findings demonstrate the potential of cassava starch as a low-cost and sustainable stabilizing material for compacted adobe construction.
