Resumen
Egg grading is a critical stage in the poultry production chain, especially when considering visual features such as shell color, which can influence consumer perception and commercial acceptance of products. Currently, small producers do not have access to current technology because of its high cost. This study aimed to propose a low-cost mechatronic classifier prototype that can automatically distinguish eggs based on their shell color. The mechanism uses diabolo rollers to move the eggs without damaging them at a controlled speed, which provides sufficient time for machine vision to detect the shell color. As a result, the mechanism classifier transported six eggs with an angular speed of 19 RPM, and the shell color recognition exhibited a precision of 97%. In conclusion, the prototype has good performance and can be improved to support small producers.
