Resumen
Wildfires, with their increasing frequency and severity, pose a global challenge of utmost urgency. This paper examines wildfire resilience, recognizing its critical role in mitigating wildfire impacts. Our study evaluates existing wildfire resilience assessments, revealing a diverse array of methodologies, strengths, and limitations. We employed a review approach, examining data sources, modeling techniques, and key factors considered within these assessments. The results of our evaluation shed light on the complex nature of wildfire resilience, emphasizing the multifaceted dimensions that contribute to a community's or ecosystem's ability to withstand, recover from, and adapt to wildfires. By synthesizing these findings, this paper aims to provide a preliminary insight into the current state of wildfire resilience assessment and its practical applications in wildfire management and planning. The results underscore the immediate need to enhance our understanding of wildfire resilience and its assessment methodologies. This paper also emphasizes the urgency of this endeavor and underscores its broader implications, striving for a safer, more resilient future amid escalating wildfire challenges. © (2026) by Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) All rights reserved.
