Assessment of the rock mass using the georesistivity method – A case study of the kovire tunnel

Barriga C.J.P.; Barriga J.P.G.; Pereira E.L. · Rock Mechanics for Natural Resources and Infrastructure Development- Proceedings of the 14th International Congress on Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, ISRM 2019 (2020)

Resumen

Tacna, is the southern department of Peru, located at the head of the driest desert in the world, geographically is 50 km. of the coast and less than 70 km from the western mountain range of Peru, these characteristics determine that rainfall is negligible during the year, for this purpose the Kovire Tunnel has been made, to transfer the waters of the Maure River and other tributaries. The content of the topographic, geomorphological, lithological, structural and tectonic characteristics of an area enables a good interpretation of the geology and of the geological events that have occurred, for this it is necessary that this area encompasses reasonable dimensions adjacent to the study area with an area of 225 km2, and with the help of geophysics determine areas with possible landslides and a detailed surface and subsoil geology in order to certify the viability of the tunnel.
