Resumen
In recent years, the analysis of territorial vulnerability has become particularly fashionable, especially in technical manuals for managers about adapting to climate change. The objective of this chapter is to revisit the notion of territorial vulnerability in order to bring to light what it covers and to present different approaches and methodologies implemented today that allow for the assessment of the vulnerability of a territory. It proposes to review certain concepts related to territorial vulnerability and describes three approaches implemented in the framework of different research projects: the stakes approach, the interdependencies approach and the approach concerning the temporalities of territorial vulnerability. Depending on the angle of approach, multi-agent modeling can also contribute to the understanding of territorial vulnerabilities. Indeed, an example of this modeling approach’s application consists of taking into account constraints influencing mobilities in crisis situations, whose characteristics may have been previously collected by surveys. © ISTE Ltd 2023.
