The study adopted a quantitative approach, with an explanatory scope and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. In addition, the study population included workers who have some relationship with areas where AI-based technologies are implemented. The probability sample consisted of 38 workers, and a questionnaire with 30 Likert-scale questions was used as the data collection instrument. The questionnaire was used to evaluate perceptions and opinions about the implementation of AI, as well as to measure acceptance, satisfaction and resistance to the technology. The results showed that 60.53% of employees perceive positively the adoption of chatbots to improve interaction with customers, indicating optimism towards the use of AI to optimize customer service. However, 47.37% of respondents expressed that lack of knowledge about AI may generate resistance to its implementation. Overall, it was noted that the rapid incorporation of artificial intelligence in various industries, including the supermarket sector, has had a significant impact. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
