Artificial Intelligence in the Development of Research Skills in Higher Education

Resumen

ChatGPT is a technological tool based on artificial intelligence that has revolutionized the academic world. This is why the present research was conducted, with the main objective of determining whether the use of the ChatGPT artificial intelligence influences the development of research competencies among students at a university in northern Peru. A quantitative approach with a causal correlational design was adopted. The sample consisted of 80 students from the Law specialty, and data were collected through a questionnaire from a survey validated by experts. For statistical analysis, the ordinal logistic regression model was employed. The results showed that the use of ChatGPT has a significant influence on the increase of students' research competencies, highlighting the effectiveness of this tool in improving key skills in the research process. Furthermore, it was verified that the ordinal regression model is suitable for analyzing the variables involved in the study. In conclusion, the findings demonstrated that artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT, represents a valuable tool for enhancing the research skills of higher education students, particularly in the field of Law, improving their ability to conduct quality research.
