Archaeological Heritage and Museum Interpretation

Pozzi-Escot D.; Tafur-Sequera M. · Encyclopedia of Archaeology (2023) · DOI: 10.1016/b978-0-323-90799-6.00126-9

Resumen

As a fundamental part of social institutions, the museum has fulfilled different roles that have been transforming in relation to the cultural conceptions of heritage, to the geopolitical changes determined by the decolonization of different African countries, as well as to the complexity of Latin American thought, which has proposed new concepts such as decoloniality. In this panorama, there are new museological trends where community participation is essential for the preservation of archaeological sites.
