Resumen
Cultural heritage and museology are deeply connected, and their evolution has led to the questioning of traditional museological practices. The New Museology that emerged in the second half of the 20th century brought with it a series of slogans that promote more social and participatory processes. This approach has been key in Latin America, where community museums have given a voice to various marginalized groups. In this context, in 2024, the Research Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology “Kuélap” (Peru) developed a museographic project based in the principles of the New Museology, integrating the Awajún community in the construction of the museographic discourse. The experience demonstrates the potential of participatory museology to create more inclusive narratives and foster intercultural dialogue in heritage management. © (2026), (Universidad Nacional de Cordoba, Facultad de Filosofia y Humanidades).
