Resumen
Dental clinics in Metropolitan Lima face inefficient appointment management, characterized by long waiting times, administrative staff overload, and low patient satisfaction. Previous studies show that these issues particularly affect vulnerable groups and limit access to regular dental services. An integrated appointment management system is proposed, utilizing an artificial intelligence–based chatbot that uses natural language processing (NLP) to automate frequent queries and administrative processes. The solution includes a mobile application for patients and a web platform for dental staff, developed with scalable cloud technologies. An agile methodology was employed for development, and experimental validation was carried out in a private clinic in Lima. Indicators of response time, user satisfaction, and operational efficiency were evaluated through surveys and direct measurements. The results demonstrate improvements in appointment scheduling automation, reduced care times, and greater patient satisfaction, highlighting the potential of artificial intelligence applied to the management of dental services. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2026.
