Resumen
The research presents a multi-criteria evaluation of the combustion process of different types of biomass. Two multicriteria decision methods, TOPSIS and AHP, based on three balances (energy, exergy, and emergy) are used to analyze the different options for combustion of these fuel mixtures in a steam generator. The results obtained suggest that the emergetic and exergetic criteria are the most important for assessing the sustainability of biomass. According to these criteria, the most suitable option for converting biomass into energy is Variant I, which has an energy efficiency of 77.57% and an exergy efficiency of 28.36%. These results will benefit both the sugar industry and the country's economic development through the production of electricity from biomass.
