Resumen
Currently, the rapid growth of the industry and poultry slaughterhouses is producing increasing quantities of byproducts and organic solid waste. The objective of this research is to determine and compare the efficiency of the conventional electrocoagulation (EC) process and the electrocoagulator with moving electrodes (EEM) in removing physicochemical parameters from poultry processing wastewater generated at the Conzac wholesale market, located in the Los Olivos district. The study was developed using a quantitative, applied approach with a pure experimental design, conducting laboratory-scale tests under controlled conditions of voltage, treatment time, and, in the case of EEM, agitation speed. The wastewater samples were initially characterized, registering high concentrations of turbidity and total suspended solids (TSS), typical of poultry effluents. The results showed that both processes were efficient in removing turbidity and TSS; However, the electrocoagulator with mobile electrodes showed significantly higher removal percentages, reaching maximum values of up to 95.6% in turbidity and 95.3% in TSS.
