Resumen
This research was conducted in the parcel department of a transportation company, aiming to implement Lean Manufacturing tools to reduce lead times. An initial diagnosis identified problems such as disorganization and delays in shipments and package deliveries. The methodology used allowed interventions in the system using Lean tools such as 5S, Kanban and Kaizen. The research value was the application of the Lean Service methodology in an improvement approach in a real-life context within the transportation sector, as this is a service company. The results show a 26-minute reduction compared to the initial cycle, in addition to a 76% reduction in wait time. 5S reduced parcel search time by 84%, Kanban improved task completion by 66%, and Kaizen improved labeling an listing activities by 76,6%. This validated the use of Lean as an effective tool in the service environment. Concluding that the implementation of 5S, Kanban and Kaizen tools proved to be key to reducing delay times in the parcel area of a Peruvian transport company.
