Resumen
Antisynthetase syndrome is a rare autoimmune disease which includes polyarthritis, myositis, Raynaud's phenomenon, mechanic's hands, interstitial lung disease and positive anti JO-1 antibody. We report a 44-yearold male patient from Puno, a high-altitude city, who presented with polyarthritis, dyspnea, muscle weakness, edema, and pain in the left lower limb. The patient had positive Anti JO-1, anti SS-A and anti B2 glycoprotein-1 IgG antibodies. A muscle biopsy reported myositis and he was treated with methylprednisolone and cyclophosphamide, with favorable results. Antisynthetase syndrome is a rare disease that slightly predominates in women. The possible role of hypobaric hypoxia in the development of this autoimmune disease is highlighted. © (2026), (Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos). All rights reserved.
