Resumen

Objective: To evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanolic extract of Muehlenbeckia volcanica endlincher (mullaca) in an inflammatory process induced by carrageenan in albino rats. Methods: The anti-inflammatory activity of the plant Muehlenbeckia volcanica endlincher was determined in vivo, after prior inflammation was induced according to the carrageenan-induced subplantar edema method. To observe the anti-inflammatory phenomenon, variations in the volumes of the rat's paw were measured at six times using a digital plethysmometer. Results: Compared with the control group, the regression coefficients for the acetylsalicylic acid group, mullaca at a dose of 17.71 mg/kg and mullaca at 25 mg/kg were 0.254 (p=0.08), - 0.263 (p=0.06) and -0.864 (p<0.001). Conclusion: The ethanolic extract of Muehlenbeckia volcanica (mullaca), at a dose of 25 mg/kg, has an anti-inflammatory effect in albino rats.
