Resumen
The objective of this study was to analyze and compare the characteristics of pervious concrete with a compressive design strength of 260 kg/cm2 with a total of 10 different mixtures such as: 8 concrete mixtures (4 compacted and 4 uncompacted, with coarse aggregate (3/8”, 1/2” and 3/4”) excluding fine aggregate); and 2 mixtures (1 compacted and 1 uncompacted, with 3/4” coarse aggregate and 10% fine aggregate), producing a total of 32 pervious concrete specimens (Tables III, IV, V and VI). In addition, 3 standard specimens of conventional concrete were made with 1/2" aggregate with dimensions of 15cm x 30cm, of equal design strength (260 kg/cm2). Subsequently, after 35 specimens were tested after an age of 28 days, permeability and indirect tensile strength tests were carried out. The results showed significant variations in terms of permeability and tensile strength in the compacted and uncompacted specimens. In the non-compacted specimens, it was evident that: the permeable concrete made with 3/4" coarse aggregate showed greater permeability due to the larger particle size, with a permeability coefficient of 1.78 cm/s and a tensile strength of 796.11 KPa. As for the specimens with 1/2 "aggregate, they had a permeability coefficient of 1.56 cm / s and a tensile strength of 887.89 KPa, while the 3/8" specimens had a permeability coefficient of 1.50 cm / s and a tensile strength of 1046.47 KPa, finally, the 3/4" specimens with 10% fine aggregate had a permeability coefficient of 1.42 cm / s and a resistance of 1026.43 KPa. As for the compacted specimens, they did not present permeability because they did not have enough pores through which water could filter, however, with respect to resistance, the 3/4 "specimens presented high values reaching 1714.84 KPa, the 1/2" specimens reached a resistance of 1269.92 KPa, 3/8” specimens with a strength of 1656.26 KPa and 3/4” specimens with 10% fine aggregate reached a strength of 1992.49 KPa. In conclusion, this study provides a series of alternatives for the design of pervious concrete which can be used according to the specific requirements of each project, however, the analysis with respect to conventional concrete reveals that the most appropriate pervious concrete to cover the structural requirements would be non-compacted concrete with 1/2” coarse aggregate and 3/8” without fine aggregate, which in turn ensure an adequate permeability coefficient.
