Analysis of the Maximum Tension in Adobes Incorporating Plant Materials such as Toquilla Straw Fiber and Ichu

Alfaro J.G.P.M.; Aliaga O.A. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2022) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2022.1.1.301

Resumen

The objective of the research is to calculate the maximum axial tension when incorporating plant materials such as Toquilla Straw Fiber and Ichu. For the experimental process, the soil was extracted from the "El Tambo"-Cruz Blanca quarry. The results obtained in the laboratory showed that the maximum axial tension of the standard adobe is 20.18 kg/cm2 and when incorporating Toquilla Straw by 6%, it increases by 29.14 kg/cm2, and when 4% of Ichu Straw is added, the maximum tension axial increases to 28.11 kg/cm2. The values obtained showed that the adobes with the incorporation of toquilla straw are higher than those obtained with ichu straw; In addition to this, the adobes with both vegetable fibers (toquilla straw and ichu) are greater than the minimum resistance specified in Standard E-080 of the National Building Regulations (RNE). Concluding that the adobes with the best results are those with the incorporation of Toquilla Straw in 6%. It should be clarified that depending on the type of soil to be used, these values may vary, according to AASHTO the soil to be used is A-6(5) and SUCS, the material used for the adobes is CL.
