Resumen

This study addresses the analysis of counterargumentative connectors in the Argentine sports newspaper TyC Sports during the Qatar 2022 World Cup. To this end, 10 journalistic articles covering sports events published between November 18 and December 20, 2022, are analyzed. Likewise, the study draws on the concept and classification of discourse markers and counterargumentative connectors proposed by Martín and Portolés (1999) and Montolío (2015), respectively. The main objective is to identify the procedural meaning of the textual connectors found in the newspaper. The results show that the most frequently used connectors are but, followed by however, both of which carry an adversative value that introduces strong arguments (Montolío, 2015). © Los autores.
