Anibal Luna Verde R.; Carlos Llaque Quiroz J.; Margot Oscanoa Ramos A. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2024) · DOI: 10.18687/laccei2024.1.1.455

Resumen

Peru is a country with a mining tradition that is currently the second largest exporter of copper ore and its concentrates in the world, with China being the main export market with which there is a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). in force since 2010. In the last 13 years, Peru has practically improved its income from FOB exports of this product to the Asian country more than 7 times. The objective of this research is to provide a vision of the commercial dynamics in the export of Copper Ore and its Concentrates through the Revealed Comparative Advantage Index that can be used to formulate sectoral strategic policies, to those interested in International Trade and Peruvian economy. We worked with FOB export data, with which the relative values of both general exports and the product were determined. both to China and to the World in both cases. Finally, the Revealed Comparative Advantage Indices (RCAI) were determined, obtaining a positive value (0.40) as a total value between 2010 and 2022. Monitoring and sharing these trends with stakeholders could be useful to generate productive and commercial strategies in the future.
