Rocio del Carmen L.C.; Dayans Tachy G.N.; Maryory Sherlyn G.N.; Juan Ernesto R.S.; Sebastian Alonso V.G. · Proceedings of the LACCEI international Multi-conference for Engineering, Education and Technology (2024) · DOI: 10.18687/leird2024.1.1.278

Resumen

In this research work, the analysis of studies that show high accident rates was addressed, highlighting the importance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). It is shown that the lack of adequate PPE is a main cause of accidents, proposing traditional solutions through surveys, reaching innovative solutions such as IoT devices in PPE for real-time monitoring and immersive technologies for training. Through surveys, complemented by direct observations at construction sites, challenges are understood, and workplace safety improved. A variety of graphical and tabular tools were used, such as the heat map and the Prioritization Matrix. These combined strategies provide a comprehensive and robust view of the factors influencing the selection and use of PPE in construction.
